Q:  Is the 6 month FREE listing, really free?

A:  Absolutely FREE, no catches!  This is an INTRODUCTORY OFFER and if you wish to keep your listing, the low annual cost of $79.95, (or less for multiple properties) will ensure your continued worldwide exposure to the market you need.  Near the end of your FREE 6 months we will email you and ask if you wish to continue with your listing.  You provide your credit card information to us only when you are listing your cottage after your FREE 6 month trial.

 

 

Q:  Can a property manager or agent use this service for rental or for sale properties?

A:  Absolutely!  You receive the same 6 month Free Introductory Offer as individuals with one property.

 

 

Q:  What is the listing and rental process?

A:  It's very simple. 

  1. You register and login as an Owner and then login
  2. Click on Properties, then ADD NEW PROPERTY
  3. Fill in the blanks, follow the instructions

THEN:

  1. Respond to inquiries and choose your renter
  2. Collect payment, documentation from renter

  3. Vacationer stays and refers your property to friends and family

Q:  Do I have to have a new account if I want to add a new property?

A:  No, just login under Owner Login using your user name and password that you registered with.  Once you have logged in you will see ‘New Property’ at the top left of the page – click there to add more properties.

 

 

Q:  How many listings can an owner/agent have? 

A:  There is no limit to the number of properties an owner or agent may have.  After the 6 month FREE trial we offer an attractive package for multiple listings, ensuring your listings on canadacottagevacations.com are the most economical method of advertising to an international market.

 

 

Q:  Who should list their property?

A:  Everyone that has a vacation property for rent should take advantage of showcasing their property to its’ full potential.

 

 

Q:  Why should I list my property?

A:  Most owners appreciate the 2nd income, understanding there is a high demand for get- aways and unique experiences.  Listing your property with Canada Cottage Vacations and US and International Vacations keeps you in control - you screen and select your own guests, save on high commissions charged by rental agents (the middle man), and ultimately more money goes into your pocket.

 

 

Q:  When should I list? 

A:  Now!  Many travelers book up to one year in advance, so it’s never too early!

 

 

Q:  How do I renew my listing after the 6 month FREE Trial?

A:  We will send you an email a few weeks prior to the date your FREE listing expires so that you can renew without interrupted service.

 

 

Q:  Is my personal information secure?

A:   Yes, all your personal information is secure - the web connection is encrypted so that your credit card information and personal details are secure.

 

 

Q:  I forgot my password - how can I recover it? 

A:  When you login in with the incorrect password, or by leaving the password box empty, you will be given the opportunity to try again, then you will be asked if you forgot your password.  Follow the prompts and your password will be emailed to you.

 

 

Q:  Can I put a link to my own website? 

A:  Absolutely, just type in your url starting with www. in the box for website links, and don'r forget to give it a name.  If you want to add a link to an attraction near you, highlight the text and then click the ‘add hyperlink’ icon (looks like a chain link) on the tool bar at the bottom of the page.

 

 

Q:  I don't have a website - do I need one?

A:  No, you don't need a website at all - and all the more reason to list your property here today!  If however, you decide you want to have your own website, we’d be pleased to design one for you.  Email us for further details.

 

 

Q:  What if I have difficulty adding my property or I simply don't have the time? 

A:  If you have problems with any part of the process, just email us and we will be glad to help you.  Otherwise, send us your photos (jpg only please) by email or regular mail along with your details.  OR if you have your property listed elsewhere, give us permission to capture the details from that website (providing you maintain ownership of the photos and information) and we will set up your listing for you.  This is a free service! 

 

Q:  How do I find my Lat and Long Co-ordinates so that my property will show on the Map?

A:  There are several ways to find out what your co-ordinates are, inlcuding a GPS, but you can just click on the link in the map instructions and a map will appear - move the marker/balloon to your location.

 

Q: I don't have digital pictures - what can I do?

A:  No problem!  The easiest option is for you to let us do the work - just mail the photos to us with a stamped self addressed envelope if you want the pictures returned.  OR you can take your photos into a digital image center and they will scan them for you and and put them on a CD which you can then put into your CD drive and download into your computer's photo program.  They need to be in photo format jpg.

 

 

Q:  Will my personal information be seen by anyone using canadacottagevacations.com?

A:  No personal information about you will be shown except your phone number if you include one, and we suggest that you do.  We use a secure email contact form so that the emails sent to you from a potential client, go through our system to you.  Only when you respond to the inquiry will your email address be apparent to them.

 

 

Q:  How soon will my property listing be visible on the website?

A:  Almost immediately your listing will appear on canadacottagevacations.com.  You will receive an email from us indicating that your listing was successful.  You can then view your property and make any changes that may be necessary through the Owner Login tab in the top bar of the website.

 

 

Q:  Can I receive another '6 months free' on the same property?

A:  No, the '6 months free' is an introductory offer only and available once per property.  However with our low annual rates, you will be able to keep your vacation property listed and visible with worldwide exposure to the market you are targeting, at a very affordable rate.

 

 

Q:  Will I receive notices to renew my ad after it’s been on for a year?

A:  Yes, we are here to help you maximize your rentals or sales on your vacation property.  Before your listing expires we will email you a reminder to renew.

 

 

Q:  What is your Privacy Policy?

A:  Canada Cottage Vacations & US & International Vacations will not share or sell your email address to any business or person for any reason whatsoever.  Email addresses are used solely for the purpose of correspondence with users of canadacottagevacations.com.

 

 

Q:  What if I receive an email inquire that seems 'odd' or 'strange'?

A:  You may have received a SPAM.  Look for these warning signs:

the language in the email is poorly worded, many spelling mistakes and grammatical errors

email is overly polite there is a sense of urgency with their request and you are asked to respond immediately or within a time frame sender says they are being re-located and the funds are coming from an employer or other third party, often in a different country details that you ask for are not provided or are vague money does not arrive request for you to accept more money than you are asking for, or by a different method than you use they request your banking information so that they can send you the funds.

 

 

FAQ’s for RENTERS 

Q:  How do I contact an owner of a property I want to book? 
A:  When you are viewing a listing, you will see 'Contact Owner', click that and it will produce an email form that you can use for your questions.  Click 'send' at the bottom of the form and it will be delivered directly to the owner's email inbox.

 

Q:  Is there a standard process to booking a vacation property?

A:  The process of booking a vacation property will vary from property to property, but generally may include:

  • an application form to be filled out
  • a cancellation policy to be read and signed
  • terms and conditions or household policies agreed to
  • deposit to hold the accommodation
  • balance due before your arrival
  • damage deposit

 

Q:  Can I cancel a booking that I've already made?

A:  All property owners and managers will have a cancellation policy and they will vary - some will be more flexible than others, often due to the nature of their rental.  Make sure you read it and understand it - ask questions until you are certain of the content, and NEVER assume anything.  Get it in writing, verbally will just cause problems later if you have to cancel.

 

 

Q:  Who handles the money?

A:   The property owner or manager handles all the money and paper transactions.  Canada Cottage Vacations & US & International Vacations is a listing agency and does not handle any part of the transactions between parties using this site.

 

 

Q:  Why does the property owner want my money so far in advance?

A:  Most property owners or manages require your rental money in advance so that they are assured of a secure booking.  To not do so puts them at risk of last minute cancellations and empty properties.

 

 

Q:  When will I receive the details on how to access the cottage and exact address?

A:  The owner will provide you with all the information you need, in advance of your vacation - be sure to ask WHEN.  Also make sure to confirm arrangements for getting that information to you.  If you are going to be travelling elsewhere prior to your rental, be sure to obtain the details before you leave.

 

 

Q:  Will there be any hidden fees?

A:  No fees should be hidden, but make sure you confirm the payment details, amounts, taxes if any, and any other charges that are not obvious - for example, some properties may have cleaning charges added, while others will have those charges included in the quoted rate.  Final costs should always be obtained in writing.

Q:  Are the instructions for adding a listing the same as for an owner?

A:  Yes, just follow the same easy steps to add your property listing.

 

 

Q:  Can I use one listing and keep changing it to represent new properties?

A:  You can, but it's not the best way for you to gain exposure and show your properties.  Ideally, if you have 10 properties that you want to advertise you should add 8 listings, and when 2 of the properties have sold, the listings can be edited so that you can add the other 2 properties.  That way, you have a revolving inventory and clients will return often to see what you have to offer.  If you want to feature a property, you can have it spotlighted on the right hand bar, just email us and we'll set it up for you, complete with a link to your website.  Click here to see rate details.
